I am part of MFC, if even in a small crappy way.

So, there is an MFC entry which is my fault. Although I would have made many changes if I didn't have little monkeys hanging off of me every minute, I did what I could with the time I carved out of my tangled life. If interested, you can listen to  it here. I am but a small part of it, as is evident when you listen to it.

It is my first "finished" mix and although I can hear a plethora of issues with it (quiet much!) I am still proud that I finally did something. And finally now, I am starting to VERY slowly figure out the mixing thing (even if it is just in garageband). Baby steps.

I look forward to applying this growing knowledge to the bank of recordings I have of my own music. One day I may actually have something of my own to put up.

So, there it is. Can you dig it?

I like it a lot.  Good stuff.  Glad it came together.

And thanks. I look forward one day to actually being able to make the music on the computer sound like I hear in my head, but the whole mixing thing is an art.

Thanks. That is so sweet of you to say. I would love to teach you to sing, it's so fun.

I was so proud of my ladies choir on Tuesday cause  they sounded SOOOOO much better then they did the first class. It made me so happy to hear their voices actually come out of their heads - we were all giddy. It's a nice feeling being able to give them what they want.

Onward and upward!

That's one hell of a voice you have there.

I did what I could with the time I carved out of my tangled life

Join the club.  One of the positive things about having the MFC is that it actually forces you to get something done.  In most of our lives, the music bit gets re-prioritised to the bottom of the list so often it can be frustrating.  MFC gives you a bit of a kick to get stuff done.

That and it's been incredibly supportive - I can't recall a single "yuo r teh suxx0r!" post in response to an MFC entry - all I've ever seen is very constructive criticism.  Have a listen to MFC1 and the last MFC - you can see a definite arc of progress.  I'm sure I'm not the only one that'd like to hear more of your voice and compositions.

Now, after all that, I must put 8 hours in my diary for Saturday RTFO!

How nice by littlestar (2.00 / 0) #6 Fri Mar 02, 2007 at 07:31:48 AM EST
It's funny that you can tell anything about my voice from that... it's pretty mushy. But, I will get better at that part.

It's true. I would have been shocked, and then cried myself to sleep ;), if anyone had said how badly I suck.

In the end it's all good. We do what we can. I really do appreciate the positive comments. I needed that cause the song so didn't turn out like I had pictured, but as I said, it's hard peeling the children off of my to do my own thing.

I look forward to more MFCs, where, hopefully, I will get better and better.

Trained ears. by Breaker (4.00 / 1) #8 Fri Mar 02, 2007 at 10:23:32 AM EST
Being self taught guitar teaches you to listen to stuff very very carefully.

You're your own worst critic I think; I've lost count of the parts of MFCs where the authors (myself included) have said "ooh, not too sure about the change from chorus to verse" or whatever, and everyone else is like "sounded alright to me!".

Yes we can!

Sounds great to me, with some lovely harmonies in there! Can't wait to hear future entries from you.
